CONISTON HOTEL, SKIPTON WINTER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – FRANCESCA AND RICHARD

Winter wedding on a stormy day in February….

When Francesca and Richard first got in touch with me about their Coniston Hotel wedding in Skipton, I was so excited – they were planning the most fun countryside wedding with a large bridal party, an emotional groom and even karaoke. Francesca and the bridesmaids are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Getting ready

I turned up at the hotel, where the bride and her friends were getting ready together, and it was so chilled out, because all the girls knew each other really well, and in fact one bridesmaid had been at two of my previous weddings last year. Francesca wore a blush gown and the bridesmaids wore dusky pink dresses and they looked so beautiful. The boys were also getting ready at the hotel, on another floor. It wasn’t quite so chilled in there! It was very funny though!

The ceremony

The wedding took place in the barn room at the Coniston, and was a traditional legal ceremony. They had some beautiful readings, which everyone enjoyed. The bride and grooms children played starring roles, one was the ring bearer, and the other was being cute sitting in the middle of the aisle!After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then the couple danced back down the aisle together. The couple and their guests headed straight into the large conservatory area for drinks and mingling.

The afternoon

The wedding reception took place in the large function room, which they’d decorated with an enormous sparkly backdrop and lots of personal touches. It was stunning.

It was a stormy day, which all the girls knew each other really well, and infact one bridesmaid had been at two of my previous weddings last year. While the guests enjoyed the cocktails, I did some family photos. My favourite photo from our portrait session is the one where the wind blew their umbrella inside out.

During the reception they had a photobooth, which went down a storm. They even had their best friends singing the first dance for them, which was a big surprise to everyone. For dinner they had a roast dinner, and it was absolutely delicious. After the wedding breakfast they had some wonderful speeches, then the party got started and everyone hit the dancefloor. They also had sparklers, which was a great laugh.
