Newborn portraits at your home or on the farm

What a scorcher of a day we had for this outdoor newborn photo session near Denby Dale near Huddersfield.

It might be more conventional to do newborn photo sessions indoors, but I find everyone is more relaxed and it all feels a bit more natural outdoors. During the summer of 2020 it has been essential to do all photo sessions outdoors because of that pesky Covid, but it has actually produced some gorgeous photos to treasure like this set we did in the baby’s parents’ garden, and in her grandparents field.

We were still able to get some beautiful baby shots outdoors and I also captured the closeness of the new family.

There are plenty of picturesque locations around Huddersfield and Saddleworth for location family photo sessions, so you don’t have to own your own field to achieve this look! I always give parents a choice of a couple of dates, just in case the Yorkshire weather isn’t kind to us, but up to now, it’s worked out very well.

I know that newborn sessions can take a bit longer because of feeding/ changing etc. so I always allow for this. We want everyone to be relaxed and not feel rushed, this is a new experience for parents and baby, and routines are nowhere near established, I remember those days well!
