If you’re planning a wedding at The Venue Bowers Mill in Barkisland, you’ll love this!
Molly and Luke got married at The Venue Bowers Mill, which is a former woollen mill in Barkisland with vast rooms. It was one of the most fun weddings I’ve shot and even the weather played ball! It’s fabulously picturesque with countryside views on one side and a more industrial feel on the other.
Getting Ready
One of the great things about The Venue is that they have the ApartHotel right on site. In fact it’s connected to the wedding venue so the bridal party doesn’t need to go outside at all. The rooms and suites are absolutely gorgeous, and look great in photos! It is in-keeping with the rest of the venue with exposed brick, wooden floors and lots of original features.
The ceremony
The ceremony was a legal ceremony in the Spinning Room. During the ceremony the couple giggled through their vows, and there was so much affection for them in the room. It was really fun.
They decorated the area with White and Red roses to depict the counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire coming together, which I loved. The reception was in the huge room at The Venue Bowers Mill – I love this venue because you can totally personalise it. Weddings at The Venue Bowers Mill are amazing, because even if the weather isn’t on your side, there are so many places inside for photos and it just has a really relaxed feel.
Why The Venue Bowers Mill is a great place to get married
The Venue Bowers Mill has a real party atmosphere, and is one of the coolest places to get married in Halifax. The venue offers an onsite hotel so guests don’t have to travel home – and there are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for photos.
The party
The couple had a cocktail drinks reception in the afternoon, and a live band in the evening. I love a live band, and this one really got the party started! Everyone was up dancing right from the first dance. For dinner they had a roast dinner, and the first dance involved the wedding party getting on the dancefloor to get the dancing going.
The couple
Molly wore a floor length beaded 40’s style gown and Luke wore a navy suit and they looked really dapper. There were many personal touches that Molly’s dad had made like the wooden frames, table plans and itinerary plan. Molly’s sister made all the cakes too, which looked amazing.
The couple got in touch with me last year, and their enquiry sounded right up my street, they are a very relaxed couple who didn’t want to pose, but wanted extra pics of the lively dance floor. They said they wanted a fun photographer, and I loved that they just wanted to party.
Advice for planning your wedding at The Venue Bowers Mill
What the couple said;.
Liz did an absolutely amazing job of our wedding pictures. She fitted so seamlessly into our day. Got all of our photos back so quickly and they look better than we could have imagined. She captured every shot we wanted plus so many more that mean so much to us and our family. We wanted all very natural photos with some group shots too, which she nailed. Will be using Liz again at every opportunity we get. Thank you for making our day so special.
