CAWTHORNE CHURCH AND MARQUEE WEDDING ON THE FARM – ANNA AND TOM
When Anna and Tom first got in touch with me about their Church wedding in Cawthorne, near Barnsley, I was so excited – they were planning the most relaxed farm wedding with a church ceremony, a homemade cocktail bar and even a live band. Anna and Tom are the most fun people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
I turned up at Cawthorne Church, where the groom was chatting with the vicar, and it was really exciting, because. The groom drove his brand new tractor to the church ceremony, complete with ribbons and sparkling paintwork!
The ceremony
Firstly, the wedding took place Cawthorne Church, and was a traditional religious ceremony. They had some beautiful readings, and the vicar, Jean knew both of them well, so it made for a very personal service. After the ceremony they had a guard of honour with pitchforks, and then they were showered with confetti. As a special surprise to Anna, Tom drove the two of them in the tractor to a nearby farm, where there was a helicopter waiting ready to take them on a fabulous trip around Barnsley and Emley Moor.
The afternoon
The day kept on rolling at speed! Next, we headed off to the wedding reception took place back at the couples’ farm where they had an enormous marquee set up, which they’d decorated with lots of bunting and a vintage country decor. It was so personal to them, and it wouldn’t have been complete without a visit from their chocolate lab.
It was a slightly rainy day, which didn’t bother them at all. While the guests enjoyed the free bar, we wandered around the farm doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from our portrait session is the two of them in their working barn, nothing is set up for photos, it’s all just how they use it day to day.
During the reception they had a live band, which went down a storm. They played a great mix of cool oldies and 90’s alternative rock, right up my street! For dinner they had a roast dinner, and it was loved by all the guests. After the wedding breakfast they had some wonderful speeches, then the band kicked off the party and the couple hit the dancefloor. It was pouring down in the evening, but it did give us the opportunity to get the epic rain shot, ands Anna didn’t even get wet!
