Church and Tipi Marquee wedding photography North Yorkshire

IF YOU’RE PLANNING A TIPI OR MARQUEE WEDDING, YOU’LL LOVE THIS WEDDING FOR INSPIRATION!

When Poppy and Chris first got in touch with me about their tipi marquee wedding, I was so happy – they were planning a relaxed tipi wedding with a church ceremony and a cocktail bar for the reception. I first met Poppy at her best friend, Emily’s wedding in 2017 where I photographed her spectacular wedding. Poppy and Chris are the nicest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

I started at the church, where the groom and his family were hanging out before the ceremony, and it was getting very exciting, because they were so happy to see each other. Poppy wore a floor-length gown and Chris wore a three-piece suit and they looked really perfect. Poppy arrived in her Mum’s sports car, looking amazing. It must have been tricky changing gears though with all that tulle!

The ceremony

The wedding took place at a little local church in the village of Alne, and was a traditional religious ceremony. They had some beautiful readings, which everyone enjoyed. After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then we did a confetti tunnel outside the church door. The couple and their guests headed straight to the tipi wedding venue at Chris’s parents house at Cundall School North Yorkshire.

The Tipi reception

The wedding reception took place in the beautiful grounds in and enormous tipi, which they’d decorated with bunting and picnic benches. It was so relaxed and personal to the couple.

It was a slightly rainy day, which wasn’t in the plan but the couple didn’t mind. While the guests enjoyed the live music, we wandered around the venue doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from our portrait session is under the string lights with the umbrella. Check it out below!

During the reception they played lawn games, which went down a storm. For dinner they had pizza from a van, and it was absolutely delicious. Afterwards, they had some wonderful speeches and the dancefloor was packed all evening.

Even though in rained a little we still managed to get some lovely photos which were very laid back and not too posed.
