The perfect backdrop
The house and it’s landscaped gardens offer endless opportunities for capturing breathtaking moments and there’s even a couple of llama’s who will pose for you in the adjacent field! The house is tucked away from the road down it’s own driveway in the very quiet village of Egton, just 6 miles from the coast at Whitby.

Getting ready for the ceremony
Sarah, the bride, had a wing of the manor house to herself to get ready with her Mum and bridesmaids. It’s such a charming venue, with original architecture, centuries-old stories, and a cozy, intimate atmosphere that sets the stage for a wedding day full of love and laughter. The quaint charm of the house provided a beautiful backdrop for photographs, with its columned archway front door, vintage furnishings, and rustic elegance.
The picturesque gardens
The beautiful gardens surrounding the house are a treasure trove for wedding photographers. These grounds featured a variety of flowers, shrubs, and beautiful rhododendrons. The lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and pathways make for stunning photo opportunities. There’s also a brilliant area for kids with a huge swing and slide set-up suitable for a wide range of ages.
Snapping those candid moments
One of the key elements of the way I approach wedding photography is to capture all those candid moments. The relaxed and intimate atmosphere of this venue encourages genuine interactions among guests, creating heartwarming, candid moments ripe for capturing. Whether it’s a stolen glance between the newlyweds or a hearty laugh shared among friends, these spontaneous moments are happening all around on a wedding day, I just need to be in the right place at the right time!
Natural light photography
This venue really lent itself to mostly using natural light. The gardens provide a soft, diffused light that certainly flatters most people, and the covered courtyard where the wedding breakfast was served gives a lovely subdued and relaxed light which is great for the meal and speeches.
Exploring the venue
Sarah and Richard wanted to capture all the unique elements of the venue without feeling like they were on a long photo shoot. So whilst people were eating and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere in the dining area, we popped out into the grounds for a few very natural photos.
