I first met Beth and James at their house, where we had a lovely and lively chat about the ideas and plans for their wedding day at Fixby Hall in Huddersfield. I knew it would be a special day, as they are such a fun and romantic couple. I certainly wasn’t disappointed!
Charming and spectacular location
They were blessed with a fabulous day for photos, as the light was amazing, with just a possibility of rain, which actually made for a wonderful sky and the location is such an interesting place!
I arrived in the morning down the winding woodland drive to the hall to capture some photos of the guests and couple arriving. It was quite a foggy autumn day, but I really liked the atmosphere it gave the photos!
Natural and informal photography
As the hall itself is Grade Two listed and has a lot of history and quirky charm, it’s so photogenic. Everywhere you look is another photo opportunity, from the panoramic views to the sweeping staircase this certainly is one of the best venues in Huddersfield for a celebration. The groom and groomsmen were just arriving also, dressed in their suits which were very in keeping with the character of the hall.
The bride and groom had thought of everything and they really pulled the stops out by booking the Undercovered Waiters to get the party going early!
There may have been some tears shed when Beth entered the room for the ceremony with her Dad, but there was plenty of laughter too. These two made it such a joyful and relaxed experience for all the guests. After they had signed the register then it was time to do some of the family photos and a large group shot of all the friends and family, at Fixby you’re spoiled for choice for a backdrop for the photos. Everyone braved the foggy drizzle and we got lots of great photos of the newlyweds, even popped out again later for a gorgeous sunset. We did have to dash out mid-meal to get this shot, but the couple agreed it was worth it!
After the meal it was party time and I stayed around to capture some shots of the first dance and people having an amazing night, not least the new Mr and Mrs, who were dancing the night away. Congratulations to you both and thank you for letting me follow you around for the day!
