Bride and groom near shed

Hepworth, Huddersfield barn wedding photography

A community wedding with a relaxed feel

This was a real event in Hepworth, near Huddersfield when Claire married Klavs in a ceremony which involved the whole community. It was a dream to photograph as the bride and groom had really put a lot of time into making it their own unique Yorkshire Barn wedding.

The girls got ready at Claire’s parents house in Hepworth which was just a short walk from the church where the ceremony was to take place. It was a very relaxed morning, nothing seems to make the family flap, even though they were hosting the whole event. The bride’s family had picked and arranged the flowers from their own gardens, including the head-dresses for the flowergirls. I arrived to capture some of the girls and boys preparations, before the groom and best man made their way down to the church.

The ceremony

There was no need for any transport to the church venue as the bride and her dad could just walk down the path to the church in two minutes. The family are obviously well thought of in the village as many people were outside who had come to watch the bride’s arrival at the picturesque Hepworth Church.

The ceremony was emotional and a special moment for both families, some of which had come over from Latvia for the ceremony. As the couple were coming back up the aisle, the nerves melted away as they were so happy to have actually tied the knot after all the planning!

After some informal group photographs outside the church we took a walk through the woods up a lane overlooking the stunning valley for a few more pics then straight up to the barn venue for drinks and canapes. At this stage I don’t like to take the couple away from the guests for too long for the bridal couple photos, so we just went for a short walk around to the timber yard, where they had cut all the wood for the boards of charcuterie to be served on. They had literally thought of everything, and done most of it themselves!
