IF YOU’RE PLANNING A WEDDING AT RUDDING PARK HOTEL, IN HARROGATE, YORKSHIRE, YOU’LL LOVE THIS WEDDING FOR INSPIRATION!
Anissa and Tom got married at Rudding Park Hotel Wedding Photography, which is a luxury hotel set in 300 acres of landscaped gardens, with its own spa and golf course, in Harrogate, Yorkshire with countryside views. It was such a happy day and even the rain didn’t dampen the day. I was absolutely thrilled to be able to get some umbrella shots, so I wasn’t bothered at all!
The ceremony
The ceremony was an intimate affair in a beautiful room. During the ceremony it was very emotional, as all the ups and downs of planning a wedding in 2020 came to the fore. I was so glad I could hide behind my camera as it was a real tear-jerker.
They decorated the ceremony room with a beautiful flower ring archway, glass lanterns and stunning bouquets, which looked so pretty. The reception was in a beautiful room in the old part of Rudding Park Hotel – I love this side of the venue because it has so many great opportunities for portraits.
Why Rudding Park Hotel is a great place to get married
Rudding Park Hotel is a traditional manor house, and was voted Best Hotel in England in 2019! It is one of the the most beautiful hotels in Yorkshire to get married in. The venue offers an onsite spa for the day before and a golf course for the morning after. There are also amazing landscaped gardens and woodland, which are perfect for photos. We went out to the gardens on the side where they have a lovely reflective path, in the rain. They have an unusual stone bust and a covered area to hide from the bad weather too, which we took full advantage of!
The reception
The couple had a cocktail drinks reception in the afternoon, and an intimate family dinner in the evening. The speeches were very emotional and personal. I think it being in a time of Covid the guests were just so pleased to be together to celebrate with the wonderful couple. Firstly Anissa’s father got up and said some lovely and funny things about their relationship when she was growing up. Secondly the bride’s mother got up and really made us all cry with her stories of family time and travels.
The two best men changed gear a little when they brought out some crazy coloured liqueurs so that everyone had shots. I don’t know if that was so people found them more amusing, or they wanted guests to forget what they’d said! 🙂 For dinner they had proper a wedding feast, served by the very smart staff at the hotel.
They finished off the evening with sparklers.
Wedding Gown
Anissa wore a traditional ivory gown, with sheer straps and beautiful beading. Tom and his groomsmen wore a navy suit and they looked really perfect as a bridal party.
The couple got in touch with me a couple of years ago, and their enquiry was for quite a different styled wedding than the one the ended up having. They said they wanted a photographer who would be like a guest, and I loved that they were so relaxed. It’s great to photograph people who are fun and happy to just talk to each other whilst I add the odd silly comment! I don’t do awkward poses!
