A Magical Farm Wedding with Stunning Views of Saddleworth

I get excited about about a wedding on a farm. The wide-open skies, rolling hills, and breathtaking landscapes always creates a relaxed DIY feel to the day, especially for those animal loving couples. And when you add a couple who are head over heels in love, the magic of the day is undeniable.

Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a wedding at the beautiful Stables Wedding Farm, and I’m thrilled to share the story of this special day with you.

The Venue: A Farm with a View

Nestled in the high up on the Saddleworth hills in Delph, this farm was the perfect backdrop for a rustic yet elegant wedding. Surrounded by lush green fields and the distant silhouette of mountains, every angle provided a postcard-worthy view.

The ceremony took place outdoors, with a cover in case of the forecast rain, under an arch wrapped in ivy. The couple exchanged vows with the human and canine guests watching on, it certainly was an emotion ceremony!

The Couple: Completely in Love

The special relationship these two have really radiated throughout the day. They were the kind of couple who were just made to be together, they exchanged glances that spoke a thousand words, and couldn’t stop smiling when they were together.

Their love story, like all the best ones, was unique and beautiful. As they stood a the front overlooking the amazing views of the hills, holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes, the emotion was palpable. The groom’s face lit up as his bride walked down the aisle. The bride, radiant and full of joy, beamed back at him with the same intensity. Their vows were personal, filled with laughter, and yes, a few tears. These two were clearly best friends as much as they were partners.

Capturing the Moments

What I loved most about this wedding was the genuine moments shared between the couple. After the ceremony, we wandered through the farm for their portrait session, stopping by rustic fences, nosey horses, friendly sheep, and the open meadows. With the golden hour light bathing the landscape, every shot was filled with warmth and magic. The backdrop of rolling hills and the endless sky gave their photos an almost ethereal quality.

One of my favourite moments was when the couple took a quiet moment for themselves. They walked hand in hand through the field, followed by another beautiful horse, laughing and talking about their future together. These are the moments that remind me why I love photographing weddings—the unscripted, natural expressions of love that can’t be staged or recreated.

The farm’s rustic marquee hosted the reception, with long wooden tables, wildflower centrepieces, and a woodland theme which even showed up on the cake. The couple’s first dance, was a romantic affair, culminating on the parents dancing together and all the friends joining in.

The Details: Thoughtful and Personal

From the bride’s delicate bouquet of wildflowers to the handmade wedding favours, every detail of this farm wedding was carefully curated. The couple had a clear vision of blending rustic charm with personal touches that reflected their personalities, like the board games table!

Guests enjoyed a greek buffet, sourced from local vendors, adding an authentic touch to the celebration.

The day was filled with so many meaningful elements, from the heartfelt speeches to the couple inviting their guests to bring along their dogs to the whole day.

Mark and Deborah who own the farm were wonderful hosts, giving free rein to the couple over their land and house, whilst being there if they needed them, whilst not over-doing it!

For this couple, their wedding day was authentic, joyful, and filled with love.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that combines the beauty of nature with a relaxed, intimate atmosphere, then Stable Wedding Barn might be the perfect fit. You never know, your day might be as magical as this one.
