Johanna and Aaron got married at Tankersley Manor, which is a beautiful hotel in Barnsley with their own crook barn, for a quirky setting for your wedding ceremony. It was such a happy day and after postponing several times because of covid, they finally made it!
The ceremony in the barn
The ceremony was an intimate service in the crook barn, which looked beautiful with the exposed beams giving it a rustic touch. During the ceremony they read their own vows. It was so much fun.
They decorated the area with flowers, which I loved. The reception was in the main hall at Tankersley Manor – I love this venue because you can totally personalise it. Weddings at Tankersley Manor are amazing, because it’s usually really relaxed.
Tankersley Manor is perfect for couples who want a big party, and is one of the nicest places to get married in Barnsley. The venue offers an onsite hotel so guests don’t have to travel home – and there is a massive dance floor in the main hall for those who like to boogie, which is perfect for photos.
The afternoon
The couple had drinks and canapes in the afternoon, and proper knees up with their hilarious friends in the evening. For dinner they had a roast dinner, and the first dance involved the wedding party getting on the dance floor to get the party started. They finished off the evening with throwing the bouquet, which the best man tried to sabotage, in a very amusing way.
The couple
Johanna wore a traditional white gown from Perfect Daze Bridal, and Aaron wore a navy suit and they looked really dapper.
The couple got in touch with me years ago, and their enquiry sounded like they were going to be a great couple who wanted a relaxed and celebratory day. They said they wanted a natural photographer, and I loved that they just wanted to party and eat cake. Between booking the wedding back in 2018 and actually having the ceremony in 2023, the couple had welcomed a baby boy, and so he played a big part in the day.
The weather wasn’t too kind to us on the day, but we really made the most of the beautiful settings inside and out. It just goes to show, the weather need not ruin your day in any way.
